Brief History of the Department

The Department of Banking and Finance came to being in 1997 from the then Financial Studies which housed three departments namely: Accountancy, Banking and Finance and Insurance, the pioneer Head of Department was Mr. Arinde A.A.A. Currently the Department is housed in the School of Business and Management Studies. The Department was duly accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) Accreditation Team.

Higher National Diploma Two (2) years.

National Diploma Two(2) years.

Requirement for entry into each programme.

Higher National Diploma.

  1. Possession of a National diploma certificate in Banking and Finance not below PASS CLASSIFICATION obtained from Federal Polytechnic, Offa or similar Institution whose program has been accredited.
  2. Evidence of a minimum of one-year relevant post national diploma industrial training experience and two years for candidate with pass classification.
  3. Relevant five (5) ‘O’LEVEL credit including English Language, Mathematics and Economics obtained at not more than two (2) sittings from such examination as SSCE/GCE, ‘O’LEVEL (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB).

National Diploma.

Relevant five (5) ‘O’LEVEL credit including English Language, Mathematics and Economics are compulsory and any two credit passes from Commerce, Account/Book Keeping, Government/Civic Education, Biology/Agricultural Science, Geography, Office Practice, and Business Methods obtained at not more than two (2) sittings from such examination as SSCE/GCE, OLEVEL (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB).
