DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT

BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

Business Administration Department was established along with others in 1992 when the Polytechnic took off. At that time it was known as Business Studies Department.

The program then was National Diploma (ND) in Business Studies with Pre-ND in Business Studies. The pre-ND was a year program to upgrade students who did not have the complete requirements for ND program to enable them qualify for ND program.

After resources inspection by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the Board gave the approval to run the programme.

The Pioneer Head of Department was Mr. R.A. Bambe with other three (3) teaching staff in the persons of Mr. B.T. Amjo (now late), Pastor J.M. Ayeni, Mr. (now Dr. A Saka).

The department was accredited during 1994/1995 session and the approval to commence Higher National Diploma (HND) was given in1996 by NBTE. To boast the human capacity, more lecturers were employed.

The name of the Department was changed from Business Studies to Business Administration during 1997/1998 academic session.
