Dr. Egbele, born on January 5, 1966, possesses a distinguished academic foundation. His early education began at St. Patrick’s Catholic Primary School, Yaba, Lagos, followed by secondary studies at New State High School, Mushin. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics from the University of Benin (UNIBEN) in 1989. He further obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Communication Physics from the University of Ilorin (Unilorin) in 2002, culminating in a Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa in 2018.
Dr. Egbele commenced his tenure at the Federal Polytechnic Offa (FEDPOFFA) in 1995 and has demonstrated consistent career progression, attaining the rank of Chief Lecturer in 2022. In 2023, he assumed the dual roles of Acting Head of the Department of Applied Physics and Director of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU).
His academic career is distinguished by numerous awards and grants, including the prestigious Management Committee and Advisory Board Award, the First Runner-Up Dean of Science Award at the University of Benin, and the Post-Graduate Merit Award and Conversion to Ph.D at the University of the Witwatersrand. His research contributions have gained national recognition with papers presented at several conferences, such as the National Institute of Physics Conference at the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) and the 27th Annual Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Physics at Kaduna Polytechnic.
Beyond his core academic and research functions, Dr. Egbele has served the Polytechnic in various capacities. These include External Examination Officer for the Department of Science Laboratory Technology (2023 and 2026), Unit Head for Physics/Electronics (2006), Lecturer in the 2009 UNAD Affiliate Degree Programmes, External Moderator for the Department of Physics (Pre-ND) in 2010, and Member of the Central Project Writing and Monitoring Committee in 2021.
He holds membership in several learned and professional societies, including the Nigerian Institute of Physics (MNIP), the Nigerian Radio Science Society, the Solar Energy Society of Nigeria (MSESN), the Science Teachers Association of Nigeria, the South African Institute of Physics (SAIP), and the American Physical Society (APS). He also serves as a Consultant for UNESCO Nigeria.
With his profound academic expertise, demonstrated leadership and steadfast dedication to the advancement of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Dr. Egbele’s appointment as Deputy Rector (Academics) is poised to significantly enhance the institution’s academic standing. He succeeds Dr. (Mrs.) Mulikat Bola, following her retirement on Friday, June 27, 2025.
