PROFESSIONAL PROFILE OF THE DEPUTY RECTOR (ADMINISTRATION), DR. SALIMONU RASHEED ISHAQ

Dr. Salimonu Rasheed Ishaq serves as the Deputy Rector (Administration) of the Polytechnic. An accomplished academic and administrator, he holds a Doctorate in Information Technology and has over three decades of distinguished service in tertiary education.

Born on October 19, 1966, in Ilorin, Kwara State, Dr. Ishaq possesses a robust academic pedigree. He is an alumnus of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, where he earned a first-class foundation with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with Physics (1992). He further obtained a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (2000), and culminated his formal studies with a Doctoral Degree in Information Technology from the University of Utara Malaysia (2015).

Dr. Ishaq commenced his academic career in 1993 as a Lecturer at the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso. He joined the services of the Federal Polytechnic, Offa, in 1996 as an Assistant Lecturer and has demonstrated exemplary progression through the academic ranks. His career trajectory includes promotions to Lecturer III (1999), Lecturer II (2002), Lecturer I (2005), Senior Lecturer (2008), Principal Lecturer (2015), and Chief Lecturer in 2018.

Prior to his election as Deputy Rector, he provided significant institutional leadership, having served as Head of the Department of Computer Science and as the School of Applied Science & Technology representative on the Polytechnic Research Committee. Dr. Ishaq is also a dedicated unionist, having served as the Former Vice-Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP).

A prolific scholar, he has contributed substantially to knowledge through numerous publications in reputable journals and conference proceedings. His professional affiliations reflect his standing in the field, including membership in the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN), the Association of Information Systems, USA (MAIS), and the Nigeria Information Technology Practitioners in Civil Service.

Beyond the Polytechnic, Dr. Ishaq is committed to bridging academia and sustainable development. He has served on the boards of several institutions, including as the Editor-in-Chief of the Nigeria Journal of Science and Technical Research and as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Sincere Microfinance Bank Limited.
