Engr. Dr. Kamoru Oluwatoyin Kadiri, FNSE, FNEEE, stands out as a quintessential Rector of The Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State. An erudite scholar and consummate administrator, he exemplifies purposeful leadership, intellectual depth, and an unyielding passion for institutional transformation. Widely acknowledged as a visionary, Dr. Kadiri has consistently demonstrated an uncommon zeal for innovation, technology-driven development, strategic partnerships, and sustainable growth.

Fondly referred to as the “Digital Rector,” Dr. Kadiri places Information and Communication Technology at the core of his administrative philosophy. His belief in technology as a catalyst for academic excellence and efficient governance has shaped a new institutional culture anchored on innovation, digitisation, and global best practices.

FEDPOFFA is widely regarded as a foremost centre for skills acquisition in Nigeria, distinguished by its strong leadership in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Under the leadership of the Rector, Engr. Dr. Kamoru Kadiri, the Polytechnic has recorded remarkable achievements in skills development through the effective implementation of the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), National Skills Qualification (NSQ), and Mandatory Skills Qualification (MSQ), impacting both students and the informal sector. This sustained commitment to practical skills, entrepreneurship development, and community empowerment has positioned the institution as a national reference point for skills acquisition, in line with its motto, “Skills, Knowledge and Industry.”

In less than three years at the helm, Dr. Kadiri has presided over a remarkable transformation of The Federal Polytechnic Offa. Projects once considered unattainable or overly ambitious have been successfully executed under his leadership. These include landmark institutional initiatives such as FEDPOFFA Bread, FEDPOFFA Water, and the historic hosting of the Nigeria Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA), widely adjudged as one of the best-organised editions in the history of the games.

The Polytechnic has also recorded over forty strategic collaborations, affiliations, and linkages with reputable organisations and agencies across the public and private sectors, both locally and internationally. These partnerships have strengthened academic delivery, enhanced students’ exposure, and expanded institutional relevance.

Dr. Kadiri’s administration has undertaken extensive infrastructure upgrades and renovations across key academic and service units. Notable among these are the Departments of Mass Communication, Office Technology and Management (OTM), Library and Information Science, the resuscitation of the abandoned ICT Centre, and the upgrade of the Medical Centre. The state-of-the-art completion of the Urban and Regional Planning Department complex stands as a testament to his commitment to academic excellence.

The Federal Polytechnic Offa, has recorded major milestones in national development initiatives, having been uniquely selected for key Federal Government projects. Out of only three tertiary institutions chosen nationwide for the 2024 Capital Project approved by the Honourable Minister of Education, The Federal Polytechnic Offa, emerged as the only Polytechnic selected for the construction of a state-of-the-art modern library. This singular recognition underscores the institution’s strategic importance and commitment to academic excellence.

In addition, the Polytechnic is a beneficiary of the National Public Sector Solarization Initiative, a flagship programme of the Federal Government of Nigeria. The initiative is being implemented by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Power, with the aim of providing sustainable and reliable energy solutions to public institutions.

Out of the twelve Federal Polytechnics selected nationwide by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for inclusion in this critical intervention, The Federal Polytechnic Offa, was among the fortunate institutions chosen for the first phase, reaffirming its growing national relevance and developmental profile.

Academically, the Polytechnic has witnessed the commencement of new programmes, unbundling of courses, and the creation of additional departments and schools, thereby broadening access, relevance, and competitiveness.

Under Dr. Kadiri’s watch, the Polytechnic’s ICT capacity has been significantly strengthened. Beyond retaining its status as a JAMB-accredited CBT centre, the institution has upgraded to a fibre-optic broadband network, delivering faster, more reliable internet services to support teaching, learning, research, and administration.

In the area of security and land protection, a 600-metre perimeter fencing project sponsored by TETFund is currently ongoing, with further fencing works extending to the Ogbondoroko axis of the Polytechnic. These efforts are aimed at curbing encroachment and enhancing campus safety.

A major milestone recorded under this administration is the 100 percent accreditation of all existing programmes, affirming the Polytechnic’s compliance with national academic standards.

The successful and historic hosting of NIPOGA further elevated the institution’s national profile.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has also commended the Rector and Management for prioritising students’ welfare, administrative ingenuity, openness, and sustained engagement with student leadership. NANS described the administration as responsive and responsible, urging students to reciprocate this leadership style through peaceful dialogue and law-abiding conduct.

For Dr. Kadiri, no challenge is insurmountable and no vision unattainable. Once committed, he pursues goals with unwavering determination until results are achieved. His leadership reflects the African proverb of the lizard that falls from a lofty iroko tree and nods in self-acknowledgement of its feat, quietly confident, self-assured, and result-driven.

As the institution transitions from 2025 into 2026, several strategic projects are already in motion. These include the clearing of several hectares of land for agricultural development by NALDA, preparations for an early convocation ceremony, and early groundwork for hosting NIPOSSGA, scheduled for 2027. The establishment of a Sports Institute in the Polytechnic by the Federal Government, having designated FEDPOFFA as a Centre of Excellence for Sports.

Welfare remains a central pillar of Dr. Kadiri’s administration. Recently, the Students’ Union Government was presented with a Sienna bus to enhance mobility and student activities. In a rare and commendable move, all staff were paid their 13th-month salary, a gesture that has since been emulated by other institutions.

Dr. Kadiri continues to leverage Public–Private Partnerships (PPP) to accelerate infrastructural and institutional development. This is evident in the ongoing hostel accommodation project, for which TETFund has committed and released its ₦1 billion counterpart funding. Additionally, a committee has been inaugurated to oversee the concessioning of the Polytechnic’s two Guest Houses, ensuring efficiency and sustainability.

With so much already achieved and even more in the pipeline, the roadmap for 2026 is clear: To consolidate gains, deepen innovation, expand academic frontiers, strengthen welfare, and firmly position The Federal Polytechnic Offa at the zenith of academic excellence and global relevance.

Under the purposeful leadership of Engr. Dr. Kamoru Oluwatoyin Kadiri, the future of The Federal Polytechnic Offa is not only promising, it is decisively progressive.
