BRIEF HISTORY OF THE LIBRARY

The Federal Polytechnic Library Offa, was established in 1992 and named after late William Adedoyin the first offa descendant Union National President. The building was constructed by the late Oyeleke family and presented to the polytechnic at the mini campus.

Mr J. O Olaoye was the acting PolytechnicLibrarian between 1992-2001 while the first substantive librarian was appointed in 2001 in person of Mr. A.M Oyinloye.

He completed his tenure in 2011 and handed over to Mr. A. F. Adedeji as acting Polytechnic librarian till January 2014 when another substantive Polytechnic Librarian Dr. R. F. Quadri, took over till date.

The library has a total collection of 16,000. The library moved to the permanent site which was constructed by TETFUND in year 2014 and since then the new library which was empty has been wearing a new look and stocked with reading materials, while the Williams Adedoyin Library serves the Mini campus of the Polytechnic.

ACHIEVEMENTS SINCE 1992

The library has achieved a lot since 1992, and these are some of the achievements:

• Establishment of e-library in both libraries.
• Fully air conditioned reading rooms in permanent site.
• Provision of CCTV cameras to monitor library activities and prevent theft of library materials.
• Provision of new reading tables and chairs in both libraries
• Provision of new shelves in both libraries.
• Provision of additional reading material in serial, Reference and general subject areas.
• Construction of new circulation desks in both libraries.
• Provision of new tables and chairs for members of staff.
• Provision of new Desktop computers for permanent site library
• Subscription to e-books.
• Provision of Journal display Rack and steel chairs for readers to read newspapers and Magazines.
• Provision of public address systems.
• Provision of video camera for coverage of events in the library and the school in general.
• Provision of air conditioners for Offices
