Dr. Usman Bokani Ahmed is a member of the NSTPDI Implementation Committee and retiree of high pedigree. He is a Professional Teacher registered with the National Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). During the course of his professional career, he was groomed to deliver credible outcomes in educational management and field based operations by reputable Academic Institutions, National Agencies (e.g. ASCON and NIEPA) and Global Organizations (e.g. UNICEF and UNESCO).

He commenced his teaching career in 1964 as a teacher and later Principal Suleja Academy before proceeding for his advanced training for the award of Nigeria Certificate in Education (1970 – 1973). He did his National Service Youth Corp engagement at Irepo Grammar School, Igboho, Oyo State of Nigeria (1973 – 1974). Between 1974 to 1977, he was at Advanced Teachers College (present College of Education) as a lecturer, head of department (English) and later First Vice Principal of the Institution. He was briefly the Principal of Government Secondary School, Suleja before he moved to the Ministry of Education, Minna, Niger State. At the Ministry, he was at various times, the Chief Inspector (Education, English and Arabic), and Director (Education Resource Centre/Planning, Research and Statistics/Education).

Dr. Ahmed commenced his engagement with the Federal Civil Service in 1978 as Principal (Special Grade) of Federal Government College, Jos (1986 – 1994). Between 1994 and 2004 before retired, he later rose to the positions of Deputy Director (Planning, Research and Statistics), acting and later substantive Director (Planning, Research and Statistics; Formal Education; Primary and Secondary Education), Federal Coordinating Inspector, Head of Interim Management (National Primary Education Commission) and Acting Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education. On retired in 2004, he founded and became the Executive Chairman of Gbodo Education Consult with offices in Minna, Niger State. His last full time engagement was as the Registrar, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Niger State.

During his sojourn in the State and Federal Public Service which spanned a period of forty years (1964 to 2004), he was either a Member, Secretary or Chairman of different ad hoc/statutory Committees, Management Teams, Delegations and Study Tours. His immense contributions covered diverse areas/fields that included Education Planning and Management, Curriculum Development, Staff Matters, Admissions, Public Examinations, Endowment Funding, Extension Services, Development of Basic and Secondary education, Girls Child Education, Integrated Qur’anic Education, Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, Public Procurement, Education Law, Selection, Investigation and White Paper Implementation amongst others. He was a member of the Governing Councils of many Federal Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria.

Dr. Ahmed is a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR), fellow (Institute of Entrepreneurs of Nigeria and Nigeria Academy of Education) and recipient of merit awards (National Commission for Museum and Monument and Federal Ministry of Education). He has many articles and publications to his credit.
