Offa Born U.S Base Philanthropist Donates Hostel To FEDPOFFA For Two Academic Sessions

In an attempt to give back to the community through Corporate Social Responsibility, an Offa indigene and a philanthropist base in the United States of America, Dr. Ayo Badmus has donated a 14-room hostel with shops to The Federal Polytechnic Offa for students’ use.

The hostel which is located in Igbawere, within the neighborhood of the Polytechnic Main Campus was handed over to the Polytechnic management for use for two academic sessions.

The Acting Rector, Dr. Olarongbe Afolabi in his remarks, thanked the donor, Dr. Ayo Badmus for deeming it fit to extend the philanthropic gesture to the polytechnic. He noted that the Polytechnic is going to project the good gesture as it takes a philanthropist to offer such a building as a

donation.

While expressing gratitude on behalf of the Governing Council, Management, Staff, and Students, he said, “This donation came as a surprise, we are appreciative of this offer and won’t abuse it nor take it for granted. It is a supportive gesture that will alleviate our problem of accommodation”

Speaking to Dr. Badmus in a phone conversation through his friend Mr Toro Adesiyun, Dr. Olarongbe affirmed that the donation is an unforgettable philanthropic gesture and the polytechnic will not forget the donor.

Also speaking, the Dean, Directorate of Students Affairs, Engr. Dr. Waheed Balogun appreciated Dr. Badmus for the donation. He added that the offer is the first of its kind in the history of the Polytechnic and is noted by the management for future recognition.

While the Students Union President, comrade Orisaniyi on behalf of the students, thanked Dr. Badmus for donating such a befitting structure to the management for students’ use. He commended the donor and pledged that the students will not abuse the rare opportunity being given to them.

Earlier, Mr. Toro Adesiyun, a close ally of the donor gave the background of the building. He said the donor unanimously decided to surrender the building to the Polytechnic for use for two academic session as a means of giving back to the community.

Other management staff present at the handing over of the structure to management are the Director of Physical Planning and Project Monitoring, Arc Fatai Olatinwo, Director of Information Public Relations and Protocols, Olayinka Iroye, Deputy Registrar Legal Unit, Barr kunle Babatunde who stood in for the Acting Registrar and Chief Security Officer, Prince Moshood Ibrahim.
