MAY 8: FEDPOFFA Rector Charges Alumni Association on Debate Program, Scholarship Scheme For Students

Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin has charged the Alumni Association of the Polytechnic to include a debate program and scholarship scheme for students in her annual May 8 commemoration activities.

The Rector disclosed this in a commemoration program held on Monday 8 of May 2023 at Stella Obasanjo Lecture Theatre of the Polytechnic.

Dr. Kadiri in his address commended the Alumni Association for turning the memories of the event into a symposium and a reflection on the peaceful and harmonious relationship between the Polytechnic and the host community.

The Rector noted that the symposium has further enhanced the mutual and cordial relationship and relative peace between the Polytechnic staff, students, and the community. He added that the Management values peace as a driving force to institutional growth and development and shall continue to reinforce and uphold the tenets of peace, love, unity, and togetherness among stakeholders and the publics of the institution.

While reiterating his commitment to the growth and development of the Polytechnic, Dr. Kadiri emphasized his endowment efforts on channeling infrastructural development to the polytechnic through notable alumni members. He equally urged the association to locate members or hint the management about members who can channel developmental projects to the Polytechnic.

He further pledged his maximum support for the Alumni in all ramifications and assured the National Executives that the Polytechnic will commence production of different commodities in due time.

Earlier, the Guest Speaker, Dr. Sunday Asakpa while speaking on innovative strategies for sustainable peace described peace as an essential ingredient for human development.

He added that the price of peace cannot be over-emphasized as it is crucial to human security and an important condition for all forms of development.  

Present at the event were: Representative of Olofa of Offa, the Alagure of Offa, Chief Bode Onawola and Alawe of Offa, Chief Alhaji Tijani Ibrahim, Representative of the Chairman Governing Council, Hon Yusuf Adamu, the Registrar of the Polytechnic, Mr. Gabriel Soko, the Bursar, Mr. Azeez Amidu, Dean, Directorate of Students’ Affairs, Engr. Dr. Waheed Balogun, Deputy Registrar Staff Development, Mr. Shola Omole, Alumni President, Comrade Rahman Ayuba, Comrade Sangaruwa among many others.
