Kwara State Government has commended the Federal Polytechnic Offa, (Fedpoffa) for inventing machines to help in the fight against the novel coronavirus.
According to a press statement signed by Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Modupe Joel on June 16, 2020, the Deputy Governor and Chairman, Covid - 19 Technical Committee Mr. Kayode Alabi gave the commendation when the Management of FEDPOFFA visited him at Government House.
Mr. Alabi, who spoke through the alternate Chairman of the Committee and Special Adviser on Health Matters to the Kwara State Governor, Professor Wale Suleiman, explained that the fight against novel coronavirus is a tripartite effort involving the government, community and industry.
He noted that owing to the purposeful leadership of Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the committee is efficiently managing the Coronavirus pandemic. He stressed that Kwara is ranked top among States that are getting the fight against the disease right.
The Deputy Governor, therefore, solicited cooperation from corporate organizations and communities to help the government flatten the curve of COVID-19.
Speaking earlier, the Deputy Rector Administration Fedpoffa, Dr Olanrongbe Afolabi appreciated the targeted moves of the Kwara State Government through the Technical Committee to fight COVID-19. He noted that the institution is working to complement Government's efforts.
Dr. Afolabi explained that ahead of the reopening of institutions across the country, Fedpoffa invented auto disinfectant passage system, automatic hand sanitizer, washing machine, automatic Pee toilet and hand clap UV sanitizer.
The Deputy Rector added that the devices were invented to prevent a spike in COVID-19 cases when the schools are finally opened. He solicited the State Government’s assistance for mass production of the machines for use in other public places.
