ESTATE MANAGEMENT AND VALUATION
HISTORY OF DEPARTMENT
The Department of ESTATE MANAGEMENT came on board along with other two departments in the School of Environmental Studies (SES) in September, 2010. During the 2009/2010 session, the NBTE accreditation team came on resource visitation to the department to ascertain the readiness for the take off of the National Diploma in Estate Management programme in which an approval was granted with effect from September year 2009, consequently in 2010/2011 session the department took off fully with thirty pioneer students. During the last accreditation the NBTE granted approval for the running Higher National Diploma (HND) programme. To this effect, the Department admitted 26 HND students for the 2019/2020 session. Furthermore, the department was granted also re-accreditation for the ND programme. The department is blessed with staff strength of seasoned, registered Estate Surveyors and Valuers and renowned academicians.
FACILITIES IN THE DEPARTMENT
The facilities available for course are
- 4no lecture rooms for both ND and HND
- Computer lab
- Student Library
- Seminar room
- Shared studios
- Shared workshops
PROGRAMMES AND DURATION
The department runs both national diploma and higher national diploma in Estate Management and valuation.
The national diploma is a two year course while the higher national diploma is also a two year course with a break of one year interval for industrial training after the national diploma. This industrial training is an avenue at which student are expose to the practice of the profession of estate surveying and valuation.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
The national diploma, the entry qualification is five credits O’ level relevant subjects WAEC, NECO or NABTEB at not more than two sittings. The relevant subjects are
- English
- Maths
- Economics
- One basic science from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Agricultural Science
- One subject from Geography, Commerce, Government, Financial Study/Accounts, Commerce Woodwork, Technical Drawing, Metalwork and Fine Art
In addition, candidate must meet the institution cut off mark in relevant JAMB subjects, the relevant subject are
- English
- Maths
- Economics
- Any other subject from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science, Geography, Government, Accounts, Woodwork, Metalwork,Technical Drawing, Fine Art and Commerce

ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE DEPARTMENT
- Have graduated more than eight sets of students who have excel in the labour market at the National Diploma programme. More so, the first set of the HND will be graduating after the consideration of the result of second semester 2020/2021 session
- The Department in 2020 accreditation exercise secured full accreditation of the Higher National Diploma programme and National Diploma programme for a period of five (5) years.
