BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT
Civil engineering Department was established in the year 1999 vide a resource inspection by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) conducted same year for the commencement on National diploma in civil Engineering (ND).
Both the resources (human and material) available for the running of the programme and the environment where the programme would be run were systematically assessed and a go ahead approval was given.
The department commenced the National Diploma with a total of just fifteen (15) students and as at the last admission exercise the total enrolment in the department stands at 1819.
The visits by the NBTE on initial accreditation for the ND programme was in 2003. The department considered the plight of her ND graduates seeking to progress in their educational pursuits to which Higher National Diploma (HND) programme was conceived in the year 2004.
However, the first set of intakes was at the 2004/2005 academic session with an initial enrolment of Twenty seven (27) students. Presently, the enrolment list indicates a total number of 1195.
Resource inspection for HND was carried out in the year 2005 while the initial accreditation exercise for the HND programme as well as reaccreditation ND programme came concurrently in May 2008.
The department also commenced part-time National Diploma programme in Civil Engineering in 2006 with initial intake of 24 students, which now stands at 1011.
The pioneer staffs of the Department are Mr. Salaudeen, F.A., Mr. Anifowose, M.A., Engr. Taiwo, W.A., Mr. Balogun, W.O, Mr. Jimoh, L.O. and Miss Oyelami, O.T. (Mrs. Akanbi)
